5 Tips for People Who Work From Home
Hello there! These tips that I am going to share to you are based on my own experiences on the past 18 months of working from home. We may have different jobs from each other, but I would like to share these just in case these might help you. In this time of pandemic, being helped is very much needed. This is also why I make blog like this which is all about tips, while having work set up at home. It’s really up to you if you will agree or disagree with me. You’re free to continue reading if you’d like to know more.
1. Make your work and life balanced.
You do not want to overwork and in the end you will feel burned out. They say working from home offers flexible hours. But on reality, it is like working beyond working hours.
But the issue here is that our work-life balance is being affected. We want to earn money for our family. But we might be neglecting to give time for our family and most importantly to ourselves. Soplease, set time for yourself and your loved ones. Do not forget to enjoy your life.
2. Finish the work you can finish already.
Either you procrastinate first or work or work before you procrastinate. For me, either of the two works, just always set the priority and follow the SMART pattern daily.
Specific: what are the specific tasks you want to attain today.
Measurable: How many tasks you do want to finish for the day?
Attainable: How many tasks you do want to finish for the day? Would you like to start from the easy to difficult tasks?
Realistic: Is it possible to finish those tasks today or you will end up burned out and will not be able to do the remaining tasks on the next day.
Time-bounded: Or would you like to finish task every 30 to 60 minutes then rest for 15 minutes then go back again to work?
So, it’s up to you but learn to list down specific tasks that you can possibly finish for the day.
3. Communicate with the people you love, family, relatives, friends, workmates, and colleagues.
Do not neglect yourself. Health is wealth. Eat the right portions of food. Have an adequate sleep. Take a rest. For me, I prefer to sleep at least 8 hours a day but when I have really many work to do, I only get about 3 to 5 hours of sleep. Then I will just sleep right after the work. Physical health is as much as important as mental health. If you have slept and eaten enough but if your mind refuses to do the work, I mean it, it’s not easy and you will not be motivated to finish the tasks for the day. Take a break, especially off screen. Relax. Breathe. Play your favorite music. Play your favorite game for a bit. Do things that will make you feel relaxed and chill so that accomplishing your task will be less hard. Just a reminder, in my opinion, weekend is made for your family, yourself and church. Learn to disconnect from work for sometime. Do social media detox.
